The fear of being rejected ca be paralyzing. When an opportunity presents itself to share our faith through our words or actions, we might stop right before we dive in and think, "What if I mess this up? What if they make fun of me?" Everyone wants to fit in. But the desire to fit in can really mess with us in the process of figuring out our purpose in life. In 2 Timothy, Paul reminds Timothy, a younger follower of Jesus, not to be afraid or ashamed of what may happen when he shares the story of Jesus. He reminds us we've been saved and called with a holy calling that has absolutely nothing to do with us and everything to do with Jesus. In fact, Paul says our calling was determined before time even began God's been planning this for a while! Sometimes people get made fun of for being a Christian. So we want to hide our faith in order to blend in with everyone else. As a Christian, you need to remember that God has called you to stand out, not to draw attention to yourself but to draw attention to Jesus. Not everyone will understand, but that's okay. You never know who will need the little bit of hope you offer when you show Christ's Love through you words and actions.

"For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence" (I Corinthians 1:26-29).
